Having multiple monitors displaying one large image allows for a higher resolution reproduction of the source media over a single large LCD type television repoduction of the same media. To clarify, each monitors maximum resolution can be used to recreate part of the image while the rest of the image is then scaled acrossed the remaining monitors.
In contrast, one large LCD style television or monitor that is the same size as (for example) 4 independent monitors will have a lower maximum resolution and therefore the image or game will not be displayed at it's highest available resolution. While many people feel that the bezel breaks of a multiple monitor setup make the viewing experience unpleasant, it is our experience that over a brief adjustment period, the viewer effectively becomes unaware of the bezel breaks. It's similar to driving with your windshield wipers on, at first you may be aware of them and even pay more attention to them then the road, but after becoming use to them being on, they no longer distort your field of vision of the road.
